Retirement of Group Chief Executive Officer – Mr. Alex Edgar Siyavora
The Chairman and Board of Directors wish to advise all OK Zimbabwe Limited Management and Staff that Mr. Alex Edgar Siyavora, the Company’s Group Chief Executive Officer, will be retiring from the Company with effect from 31 March 2021.
We thank him wholeheartedly for his many contributions. As we all know, the company was named winner of the Top Performing Companies listed on the ZSE in 2018, was runner-up in 2019 and 2020 under his leadership. Not to mention the extended store footprint nationwide, the extensive refurbishment of our 67 stores as well as the company’s brand refresh innovation program that he oversaw.
The Chairman, Board of Directors and all OK Zimbabwe Limited stakeholders wish to thank him most sincerely for his contributions to the remarkable achievements of the company, and to the lofty position it holds today as the leading retailer in the country.
We wish Alex the best in his future endeavors.
Appointment of Group Chief Executive Officer – Mr. Maxen Philip Karombo
In the same vein, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Maxen Karombo to the position of Group Chief Executive Officer with effect from 5 April 2021. Max is a marketer by profession, and business leader by practice. He joins OK Zimbabwe from Delta Corporation where he was Executive Director – Operations and Marketing for 10 years. Max has held various senior leadership roles in Marketing and Operations. Leveraging on his robust training in Marketing, Max grew his business leadership credentials at Unilever where he started off as Marketing Director for the South East Africa cluster, Zimbabwe Customer Development Director, Managing Director at Unilever Uganda and eventually as Managing Director at Unilever Zimbabwe.
Max holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Technology Management (Hons.) degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He was first certified as a Chartered Marketer in 1999 by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and is a recipient of the Outstanding Marketing Personality of the Year from the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe. Max is married to Loice and they have four children.
We are delighted to welcome Max to the company, where he will undoubtedly use his vast marketing and business experience to drive the company’s leadership in the country’s retail space.
